Chancama Adentro Communal Amenities Improvement

ECUADOR

The region of Esmeraldas in northern Ecuador is one of the poorest regions of the country, with more than 65% of people living in total poverty. The population is predominantly of Afro-Ecuadorian decent and mainly relies on the production of cacao, coffee, rice, maize and bananas.

The small community of Chancama Adentro often organise ‘mingas’ to improve their communal facilities, but funding is insufficient to enable them to build enough social areas and amenities, so we have agreed to improve their communal social spaces and to renovate the village volleyball court.
