Humberto Fierro School Refurbishment

ECUADOR

The school was formed in 1948 and has an intercultural education system in both Quechua and Spanish. The government wanted to close the school and move the existing students to a new one in another town. However, the new school is just too far away for most students to attend (3 hours travel for some). Consequently, there has been no government funding to maintain the existing infrastructure. We are working to improve the general state of the school by renovating the kitchen and toilets, making furniture, expanding the library and painting murals to brighten up the school and make the students proud.
